The 2021 iPhone will presumably be called the iPhone 14 and will have a periscope camera. Magnetic Electronics maker Jahwa Electronics is expected to provide Apple with an optical image stabilization (OIS) actuator with integrated autofocus (AF) for the iPhone 14’s telephoto camera.

Periscope is a term used to describe a folding camera structure that uses a prism or mirror in the middle of the lens to reflect light. The system allows smartphone manufacturers to enhance optical zoom without increasing the thickness of the smartphone or camera bump.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max has the best optical zoom of any iPhone, allowing the phone to zoom in by 2.5 times. Currently, at least one iPhone 14 model is rumored to have a submersible telephoto lens. The Pro model is also likely to have a pinhole design similar to Samsung’s, and the top-end model is likely to have a 48MP camera sensor. 3nm chipsets are also possible.

The iPhone 14 series will feature a larger battery and combine it with a 20% energy efficient chipset, 120Hz Promotion display (Pro model only), the largest camera in iPhone history, next-generation 5G modem and (finally) a smaller gap.
