Apple fans are waiting excitedly for any news they can get about the iPhone 8. Many are holding on to their old phones, hoping that they can hold out on buying anything new until the 10th anniversary phone finally makes its appearance. But when will the phone be released? Apple hasn’t made any announcements yet, but based on the company’s history, we can make some pretty good guesses.
Every year, Apple has a few major events. The annual summer event already took place, with the June WWDC launching a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro and a new iMac Pro. In March, Apple quietly and unexpectedly launched a new red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
This means that the next big event for Apple will likely be Apple’s annual fall keynote in September. This is typically when the company launches its big new iPhones, and the event is a good bet for when the new iPhone 8 will be released.
In 2016, for example, Apple released the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on September 7. (Apple followed this up with an event on October 26, 2016, where it announced a new MacBook Pro.)
On September 9, 2015, Apple released the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus.
On September 9, 2014, Apple released the iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus.
On September 10, 2013, Apple released the iPhone 5c and 5s.
On September 12, 2012, Apple released the iPhone 5.
So, judging from the past, Apple really doesn’t deviate much when it comes to its big new iPhone announcements. That’s why it seems fairly certain that we will see the iPhone 8 announced in early-to-mid September 2017, likely somewhere between the 7th and the 15th.
